Jazz

Trudeau Jazz is comprised of over 20 enthusiastic music students from grades 11 and 12 who love to get more out of music than wind ensemble repertoire. Jazz is currently led my Mr.Taylor and they rehearse Wednesday nights from 5:15-7:15. This year, Jazz has performed in Trudeau's annual Music Potluck in September, and Grade 8 orientation day. Future events they are participating in include: Winter Melodies, Cabaret, Spring Harmonies and various other music events. They are very excited to be off and running this year.

Strings

Senior strings are directed by Ms. Brenda Muller. Rehearsal nights are split into three: Monday is Violin (I and II) sectionals after school from 3 to 4, Thursday is Senior / Orchestra repertoire from 3 to 5, and Friday is Viola, Cello and Double Bass sectionals from 3 to 4.  Besides the usual Winter Melodies and Spring Harmonies, the Senior Strings also participates in : the Messiah, a yearly concert where Strings and the Choir team up to perform Handel's Messiah. Later in the year, we participate in Blue Bridge, which is split between a camp and then a later performance. Camp Wahanowin is where the students and poets join with professionals to work on that year's particular piece which is later performed at several locations.This is not limited to Strings students; any poets may also participate. Concerto Night, a night where motivated students are given the opportunity to play a piece of their choice as a soloist/duo along with the Senior Strings. Overall,  Senior Strings is a big family - that's why it is so fun. Jokes aren't strangers to us; we throw them around all the time. Collectively, we work together to perform challenge but exciting and rewarding. Altogether, it leads to a very exciting and fun year.

Junior Strings is directed by Ms. Brenda Muller. Junior Strings rehearse every Tuesday and Wednesday after school, 3-4. This year, junior strings will be featured in; Winter Melodies, Blue bridge Festival, Spring Harmonies. Junior Strings is enjoyable because it's a chance to spend extra time with your classmates getting to learn, make new friends and most importantly have fun! It's a fun and casual environment, yet, it's still a great place to better learn your instrument.

Vocal

The Trudeau Singers are led by Ms. Laurie Thomas and have rehearsal every Tuesday after school. The vocal ensemble has accomplished many achievements last year including a gold rating at Music Alive!  They have participated in amazing opportunities such as performing with the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra (TYWO), performing every year during the Remembrance Day assembly, and many more. This year, we are once again invited to perform with TYWO and we also want to go out into the community for more chances to perform.  Being in the vocal ensemble has been enjoyable for all students because it provides for a fun, safe, and opportunistic way to display all kinds of talent on stage for everyone.

The Musical Theatre course is currently offered in grades 11 & 12 and is taught by Ms. Thomas.  The students in this course work for an entire semester to produce a top-notch musical theatre production.  Students not only perform on stage but also work extremely hard to make sure costumes, props, set and all production requirements are in place for the show.  Past shows include The Wiz, Annie, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Legally Blonde.
